The Centre for Predictive Processing in Sport
About Us
The Centre for Predictive Processing in Sports is an applied research centre, which translates predictive processing theory and evidence to sporting contexts. In doing so, we aim to work collaboratively with performers, teams, and organisations to understand, develop, and incorporate principles that support performers in optimising outcomes in their sporting environment.
Our Objective
In translating predictive processing research to sporting contexts, it is our mission to develop an explanatory Predictive Processing Framework for Sports that captures the integrative aspects of the performance space, including (1) the performer’s internal operations (e.g., cognitions, beliefs, and emotions), (2) the dynamic sporting environments, and (3) the performer’s actions and perceptions.
Our Purpose
Our purpose in developing the Predictive Processing Framework for Sports is to (1) increase our understanding of how performers come to operate in the sporting environment and (2) develop effective principles and strategies that help performers take advantage of these implicit predictive processes.
